For those of you who have made the trip to Dundas, ON and know superb coffee when you taste it, you will no doubt be saddened to read that Domestique-Café Cyclo Sportif is closing it's doors for good on December 31st, 2014. Thanks for the great coffee, food and memories Krys! From his page: Domestique-Café Cyclo Sportif is a cycling-themed family friendly cafe in lovely Dundas Ontario

Any idea why the closing? I couldn't find any further info. That sucks, it was the perfect destination from Guelph.

Krys just said it wasn't doing as well as it should to provide him with a good living. When he first opened the cafe he was the only game in town serving quality coffee, then came Detour on King street and then Starbucks opened 50 meters away, both most certainly having impact on his level of business. We popped in on Christmas day, and one of the baristas said that the people living upstairs bought the building and were going to operate some type of bicycle oriented business with coffee available but not necessarily a cafe - the details were a little unclear.

Also... According to the Mattamy Velodrome staff, Krys will be re-opening Domestique-Café Cyclo Sportif at the Velodrome... but not until after the Pan-Am games. Timing seems less than ideal to me, but they must have their reasons. C'est la vie.

Which may or may not happen now, as they cannot get a full kitchen in the small space for the coffee shop there that he wants. I hope he does, as SOMEONE will and Id rather it be someone like him!
